Year of the Earth Ox: 2009

Music: Megumi Nakajima - Seikan Hikou

First day of the Ox year.

Anyway, Happy New Year to all those who celebrate. May you get lots of ang pows!

I was reading the newspaper this morning, and as usual, they had this section about each Chinese Zodiac sign's fortune for this year. And I thought, "AH something to blog about!".

So here's what it says about my sign, the Dragon:

It's a tough year.
Three big lucky stars are hanging over you but lots of small unlucky stars are around you too.
Double your efforts to ward off negative elements and you'll achieve success.
With a strong will and hard work, you'll have a great year.

Career: With strong lucky stars smiling on you, you'll have success in elections, exams and promotions. However, matters involving documents and contracts may land you in trouble. Beware of rumours and gossip-mongers.

Love Life: The single Dragon will be lonely most of the time. The married Dragon is likely to spend nights alone as your spouse is often away.

Health: You cannot sleep well at night. During the day, you cannot concentrate on your work. Make sure you have ample rest.

Take Note: You are vulnerable to accidents this year, so be alert.

~.~

Gee that last line sure makes me feel good *rolls eyes*
Guess I can just forget about driving around for the rest of the year!
And. Um. Thank god I have good luck with exams, elections and promotions? Cos I need that. Badly.

And my so called 'love life' looks 'promising' too. Looking forward to more lonesome years, I suppose.

...

Once again, Happy Ox Year everyone.

Back To Basics

Music: Kanye West - Heartless

Looks like I'll be heading back to New Zealand Naturals.

Not my fault, honestly.

Usually when I walk past the NZN stall in Queensbay, I'll avoid it by walking along the other side. Last Saturday on the other hand, my mum more or less made me talk to Sandy (the boss) and told her that I'm free for employment, and to call if she ever needed me there.

Guess what. She did call today.

Wanted me to start work tomorrow but my mum was like 'I need her to help me with CNY stuff, so after CNY okay?'

So I'm expecting another phone call from Sandy sometime soon.

I guess I'll soon be employed again? Darn. I really wanted to try something different this time around but well. Three months of doing nothing is too much for my mum =P

When The Past Comes Back To Haunt You...

...okay, maybe not haunt. I just couldn't think of anything fancy for the title so that will have to do. The past actually brings back good memories.

Anyway, I was cleaning my room in preparation for CNY when I found this box of my old stuff. From way back when computers were still kinda foreign. I think. Maybe not that long. Was 2000/2001 that long ago? Sigh. Time and its tendency to fly.

So I found a box of my old stuff. Had all sorts of things in it. Mad Libs, pins and needles, papers, autograph books, a tiny lavender-coloured handbag lol and a whole lot of other things.

The most interesting thing in it was the old autograph books from Standard 6 and Form 1. Boy were we crazy back then. Remember all those colour pens we bought for the purpose of signing autograph books? We must have spent a fortune on it!

We were really childish back then, giving all sorts of weird information to each other. And the 'Best Friends' category. Everyone was our best friend. Whatever happened to all those best friends huh. (Sorry for being cynical but hey, that's life.) Does anyone remember, we used to write:

'Best Friends: U lar, .....etc.'

Lol. Ular. What the heck, were we all snakes? Haha.

Really brings back old memories. The nice things we wrote in each other's books, those cheesy poems that we just had to put in. And worse of it all...pictures!

I actually wrote stuff like,'Add your photo if you can! =D' Stalker much? =P And you what, I sure got them pictures. Pei Ling, if you read this and still remember, I have a baby picture of you! XD

*sniffs the air*

Wow, my autograph book still smells good after almost ten years (it was scented). Fascinating! This makes me miss CLS even more I guess =( Wish I could turn back time, and revisit those old days. Only the good times, not the bad ones of course.

Other than that, I also found this old astrology file thingy that I used to collect. Not for free of course, it's like subscribing to Cleo or something. My mum put a stop to it after a few months so all I've got is just a bit of it.

It came together with tarot cards, but I only have 7 (out of??).

Happy Birthday Mum!

Music: Keane - Staring At The Ceiling

Happy Birthday Mum! =)

It's my mum's birthday today, so we went out to celebrate at TGIF.

I'm still having a sorethroat, if anyone's wondering (it's been almost two weeks though...should I be worried? =/), so I couldn't eat anything fancy. Had the Grilled Caesar Salad, which was awesome btw. I took the set meal, cos it comes with an appetizer (Shrimp Cocktail) and dessert (Mud Pie something). Yummy. I would post pictures, except that I forgot to snap anything in my haste to eat. Yep, not even a picture of my family! =___=" Ultimate Blur Queen indeed.

My mum wasn't the only one celebrating her birthday in TGIF - about 4 or 5 other tables were celebrating birthdays too. And you know how the TGIF staff are like - extremely enthusiastic cheering and singing when one is having a birthday/other celebrations. It was...hilarious to watch, but for celebratee (word? Lol.) it should be quite nerve-wrecking. My mum saw all that, and was really nervous to tell the waiter about her birthday XD Thank god he just wished her Happy Birthday and shook her hand.

One woman actually ran out of the restaurant when the waiters tried to sing for her anniversary. And you know what, the waiters actually chased after her! I just couldn't stop laughing =P

Anyway, that's the story my day, other than being stuck to the PS2 re-playing Final Fantasy XII. Addictive game, that.

Final Fantasy

Music: The Script - Breakeven

As some of you might know, I am currently re-playing Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy XII. Now why am I doing that? Mostly because I'm really bored, and I'm giving up on Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories for now. Too...eck.

And since I'm re-playing them (also I'm running out of things to blog about)...I've decided to blog about all the Final Fantasies I've ever played, starting with....

Ahh, the final fantasy that started all the craze, if I'm not wrong, all thanks to one silly spiky-haired dude called Cloud Strife =P Now if you've actually played the game, you know what I'm talking about. To all Advent Children fans...Cloud was not all that cool in the game itself. I mean, he was literally an idiot for 3/4 of the game, and in that final 1/4 he was surprisingly talkative, shocking even Yuffie...unbelievable I know.

Anyway, the game itself. Quite fun to play (I'm still not done with it though), the in-game graphics were um, quite advanced back then, in 1997. However, compared to everything else (I played FF8 and FF9 before FF7 btw)...it looks bad enough. All the characters are okay, my favourites being Vincent and Yuffie. And fancy Cloud crossdressing XD

Last but not least, (probably the best part of the game)...*drumroll* the ultimate villain of recent times...SEPHIROTH!

The first FF I've ever played, way back in 2002. And you know what, I restarted this one about like ten times, and accidentally deleted one file that was already on the fourth disc! Tragic, I know. I'm not done with this as well. Stuck at the final battle again. Seriously, Ultimecia is the WORSE final boss ever. But her castle's awesome =D

Squall and Rinoa - great couple, but as far as singular characters go, they all fall flat. Quistis is...bleh, Selphie's boring, Zell and Irvine are okay though. Nice battle system, great sidequests, awesome GFs (aeons and espers for none FF8 players). I think this is my favourite FF...lol.

The FF with my favourite female lead. I think I must be the only one who likes Princess Garnet Til Alexandrios XVII aka Dagger the best. She's the prettiest and the sweetest to me anyway. (Isn't she pretty? =D) And she got the best ending out of everyone else too. Zidane was a fresh choice for the male lead too, after both emo Cloud and Squall. He's cheerful, he's cute, and he has a tail! (Sigh, why is Romi Paku voicing him in Dissidia? Seems rather unsuitable to me) Sadly the other characters are all pointless.

Kuja is one...un-imaginative villain, and quite pointless too. The last battle was very silly, Necron just appeared out of nowhere, seriously. Also the easiest FF ever. I completed it twice...the second time I finished off everything, including all the sidequests and stuff. Crazy huh. Love the graphics, it was fantastic for the PS1.

Tidus and Yuna, sigh. Hands down, the best Final Fantasy couple ever. Tidus alone, on the other hand...wow. I've forgotten how annoying he was until I replayed it a few days ago. The side characters rock though, Lulu with her...assets, Wakka (voice actor is Dr. Drakken from Kim Possible!), Kimahri (same voice actor too), Rikku and Auron.

Has the best story too, I think. Tidus walks (runs?) really slow though. Not as bad as Magna Carta, but slow enough for me to feel like strangling him or something. Another bleh final battle. The quality of final battles definitely went down the drain since Ultimecia. You can't even die from this battle, auto-life goes on forever.

Somehow I just can't take this game seriously. It's just too silly for words, what with Rikku and Yuna being all childish, and Paine for actually bearing with them for so long. Only thing good about the whole game is the ending...well, the good endings anyway. (And I still have absolutely no idea what sort of ending you got Becky dear!)

There is one place that's quite interesting though - Via Infinito. Now that crazy dungeon is just nuts! And all 100 floors must be completed if one were to aim for 100% completion. Crazy! And the fiends there are anything but easy. Plus, the atmosphere there is creepy too *shudders*

Probably the Final Fantasy with the worse cast ever, with the exception of Balthier. Even though the graphics for FF12 is great, the character designs are just terrible. Vaan is just...some stupid tagalong, together with Penelo, with no relevance to main story. Come to think of it, the lead character should be Ashe, since the whole game is about helping her to claim her rightful inheritance as the ruler of Dalmasca. While getting rid of the nutcase called Vayne along the way. And Balthier's just there to help her out (okay, okay he has his own demons to deal with as well). Fran's part of the Balthier package, so she tags along too. Stupid.

Battle system was a total turn off initially, but you know what, it's actually quite innovative and clever. Saves time too =P The final boss is slightly better than Necron and Yu Yevon, since he is the primary villain and it makes sense to get rid of him in the end. Anyway, this looks to be my second favourite FF in terms of story and the battles. Not to mention the awesome sidequests. Really time-consuming, but quite fun.

If I were to rank the FFs in order of preference, it'll be:

1. FFVIII
2. FFIX
3. FFXII
4. FFVII
5. FFX
6. FFX-2

Best Story - FFX
Best Cast - FFX
Best Battle System - FFVIII

Counting Down the Days

Music: Kalafina - Fairytale

So, happy 2009 everyone. How's the new year so far?

Anyway.

I had a dream last night. About a bride and her bridesmaids.

Yes, I dreamt about a wedding. Whose wedding was it? Mine or someone else's? Well I have no idea. It was just a dream about a wedding, with no specific details.

The bridesmaids were all dressed in shades of pink. Bright pink, dark pink, pastel pink - pink was just everywhere! (And I don't even like the colour!)

All shades of pink!

A good sign?

Perhaps someone I know personally will be getting married this year.

Great start to a brand new year, dreaming about weddings.

Anyone else feels like sharing their dreams?

(Oooooh and the pink-ness sorta matches my layout)
