Assignments and what else?

Sigh, I can't believe I'll be spending the whole weekend working on assignments.

At least I'm almost done with the individual International Marketing one. It's all about global products as international icons, so I chose to do it on Nokia. Second time I'm doing an assignment on Nokia. And yet I'm using Sony Ericsson! Ironic.

Which reminds me, my mum just bought a new phone yesterday! Nokia XpressMusic 5130. It's only RM488, and it has a 2.0 megapixel camera and a lovely music player. And radio too! A really good buy, in my opinion.

Anyway back to the main topic.

What else is due this week?

Oh right, the Group Presentation for Marketing and Environmental Issues in Business (EIB).

More mobile phone stuff for the Marketing presentation. Sony Ericsson this time. I don't know about my other team members, but to me the slides for that is almost blank. Really need to start working on that tonight @________@

As for EIB, I guess it's almost done too. Our topic for that would be genetically modified foods. Shouldn't be a problem (I hope!)

Wish me luck! *crosses fingers*

At least we have two weeks off after this week.

Study break. BUUUUT I have about a million and one other assignments to complete during the study break before classes resume. Sigh, again.

Confessions of a Shopaholic

Currently Listening To: Kalafina - Oblivious

I know I'm suppose to be doing assignments (THREE DUE IN LESS THAN A WEEK!!) but I just can't resist going out for a movie XD

So.

Watched Confessions of a Shopaholic at Gurney Plaza today.

For a chick flick, it's not bad. More or less on par with Bride Wars, which wasn't bad either despite the horrible reviews for both shows on imdb.com.

The best part of the movie? I guess Isla Fisher as Rebecca Bloomwood. She makes the show, without her it would so totally suck. The guy who plays Luke is kinda cute, but not how I imagined Luke to be. Seriously people, go read the book! How can you not read Shopaholic? It's light-hearted fun, and is good for a depressing day. Not for guys though unless you're into...well, chick-lit.

~.~

American Idol Update: Well, finally Michael Sarver is out people. Obviously he doesn't deserve to be saved. Another surprise bottom 3: Matt, Michael and Scott. What is Matt doing there? Stupid Idol people. Putting front runners in the bottom 3? Not fun anymore.

Heatwave? Hardly!

Currently Listening To: White Lies - Fairwell to the Fairground

Welcome to another night of Ameeeeeeeeerican Idol!
Brought to you by Amanda.

So it's Motown this week, much better than last week's country theme.

But were the performances any better?

Leeeeet's find out:

The Good: Matt, Adam, Allison, Kris (in that order) were really good tonight. Another surprise from Adam, and it was one heck of a surprise all right.

Talk about a...360 degree turn! Oh Adam, you are...amazing. Rock on dude!

Everyone else was just horribly awkward, or average.

Danny (boring and average)
Lil Rounds (sang Heatwave and it was everything but a heatwave, wasn't that bad, did not deserve the bashing)
Megan (poor thing totally got bashed, but it wasn't that bad to me)
Michael (sigh. Sorry. Ya gotta when ya hafta)
Scott (I'm so sorry to have to rank him at the bottom, but he was just so dull! Anddddd he was rude to Paula. Bad, bad Scott)

That's all for now, will continue with the elimination tomorrow, so have a nice day and I'll see you later.

Alas, a success story!

Currently Listening To: Kalafina - Aria

You know what, for the first time since we started doing presentations last year...we didn't screw up!

Not only did we not screw up, we actually did quite well! =)
Yes, I'm really proud to admit that, since the last two presentations we had were rather disastrous.

Finally!~

We're extremely grateful to everyone who gave us their opinions and thoughts, to Noel and Timothy, and to everyone else who are not even aware that my blog exists but still, thanks a lot for the help!

~.~

To Jigoku Shoujo fans - the twist in episode 24 (I haven't watched that episode yet, but uh, read the spoilers) is just...wow. Even better than Sixth Sense's twist!

Temporary Layout

Currently Listening To: Taylor Swift - White Horse

SO I'm looking for a new layout. I'm just using this until I can find a suitable one. Though I must say this one kinda looks like something Mandy had before...hmmm.

If anyone knows any websites for nice blogger templates, send me the link please? =)

~.~

American Idol Update: Alexis Grace is out of the competition.

Too bad for her. She's actually not that awful, but I guess it was her time to go.

Oh well.

(And after all that fuss about country music? I'm now addicted to Taylor Swift! What a hypocrite I am, sheesh.)

Country Music Stinks, No Offense

Music: Keane - My Shadow

So it's my weekly American Idol review thingy.

What do we have this week? *pokes title*

Yep, that's right. Country music. And following tradition (AI tradition I mean), country music week pretty much stinks.

Strangely enough, it only sucked for the favoured contestants this time around.

But before I go into detail, here's a little video that everyone should listen to.

Adam Lambert's performance this week. It WILL blow your mind away, or maybe perhaps give you a heart attack if you've actually heard the original song before.

With that out of the way, let's move on.

American Idol 8 (2009) Top 11

11.
Michael Sarver (Ain’t Goin Down Till The Sun Comes Up, Garth Brooks) - What the heck was he singing about? Couldn't understand a single word. Didn't like the song, nor the arrangement. Definitely the weekest performance this week.

10.
Lil Rounds (Independence Day, Martina McBride) - Oh boy. How the mighty have fallen. Wrong song choice, lacklustre performance, just bleh. Not the worse vocals, but eh. And her butt's still huge!

9.
Alexis Grace (Jolene, Dolly Parton) - Compared to Brooke White's performance last year...I don't know what to say. She was just awful, from beginning to the end. What happened to Alexis? Oh Alexis. Despite her very obvious popularity, she might end up going home this week. I say again, how the mighty have fallen.

8.
Scott McIntyre (Wild Angels, Martina McBride)- I love this guy, but I don't know. He's getting really boring. Honestly, I can't tell the difference between last week's performance and this week's. Paula was right. He needs to...spice things up a little. Ditch the piano. Do something more fun. You can still sing passionately without the piano ya know dude?

7.
Adam Lambert (Ring of Fire, Johnny Cash) - Oh Adam. You are...strange. His performance was definitely one of a kind. Anyone listened to that video yet? Absolutely fantastic vocals but that arrangement...it is an interesting arrangement. In fact, even my DAD thought it was quite okay. BUT. Talk about taking things too far! Poor Johnny Cash must be rolling in his grave!

6.
Allison Iraheta (Blame It On Your Heart, Patty Loveless) - I still don't like her, but she was really good. Great vocals, the song choice was just so-so. And she looked great on stage. Very comfortable, and confident.

5.
Megan Corkrey (Walking After Midnight, Patsy Cline - She sang well enough, considering the fact that she had a flu. And was coughing away on stage. Great song choice, really suited her. I really like her voice, but I think she needs a bit more...encouragement. For now, she still sounds kinda bland.

4.
Kris Allen (To Make You Feel My Love, Garth Brooks) - Wow. I can't believe I'm ranking him this high! I mean, I don't really like this dude. He's boring, and his voice is just mediocre but he nailed it this week. Like totally, seriously nailed it. He was good, end of story.

3.
Danny Gokey (Jesus Take The Wheel, Carrie Underwood, American Idol S 5) - Poor Danny had a rocky start, in my opinion. But he worked it out in the end, and it paid off. Earned him very positive comments from all judges. And yes, he is MY favourite to win this season so if he's number 3...

Guess who's number 1 & 2...

.
.
.
.
.

2.
Matt Giraud (So Small, Carrie Underwood) - I'm not a fan of Matt at all but he did what Scott should have done; rocked out the piano.

1.
Anoop Desai (You Were Always On My Mind, Willie Nelson) - Woohoo, go Anoop! I'm so proud of him! *sniff* After last week's disastrous 'Beat It', he just blew my mind away this week. Seriously awesome. From number 10 (my un-published list for last week) to Numero Uno this week. He sang with passion, and his voice was just amazing. To quote the ever amusing Simon Cowell, "You have just managed to go from ZERO to HERO."

Here's a word of advice for the contestants (it's not like they'll ever read my blog but hey, it is my blog and I SHOULD blog about my own thoughts so...): Don't interrupt and get all defensive when the judges give you criticism, geez! It's disrespectful, and annoying.

Aiiiiiiiiie!

Drowning in assignments.

I need...

HELP!

*dies*

*revives self after a few seconds*

Oh well.

Ain't getting any help at this rate.

AT THIS RATE I should be keeping a schedule for completing assignments.

Let's see. One assignment due in Week 6, one presentation due in Week 6 too (this week is Week 4 so...do the math), a series of silly milestone thingys and another bunch of silly mind-map thingys...

*dies yet again*

Did I ever mention that I really don't like this lame-ass subject called Communications in Business???

(will be blogging about American Idol stuff tomorrow!)

Ameeeeeerican Idol

I think I must be the only one left watching American Idol, no?
Okay maybe not but close enough.
Cause everyone else I asked was like "Whaaat? You still watching that?"
Well, the answer is YES I AM STILL WATCHING AMERICAN IDOL =D

Don't ask me why I'm tuning in.
It is getting old, and the judges are getting even more annoying than ever.
BUT.
It's still a good source of entertainment!

So yeah, American Idol.

After weeks of mediocre performances, with a few standouts, finally we get to the Top 13.
Yes, you read it correctly.
Top 13 this time around (...ain't 13 an unlucky number though...?)

This season has been a little shaky, in my opinion.

Kara what's-her-face, the new judge?
She's annoying, and she's NOT HELPFUL.
I believe some people have been calling her a smug bitch.
And she really does seem to be a little full of herself.
Can we vote her out? Pretty please?!

They changed the selection format this year too.
No more Top 12 girls/guys nonsense this time.
It's Top 36 now, separated into three groups of 12, and three from each group goes through to the next round, Top 13. (3 x 3) + Wild card (x4) = 13 contestants.

There's this new concept about giving the eliminated contestant (from the elite 13, not the ones before that) a second chance as well. It's up to the judges to decide whether the person with the lowest votes leave or stay. And it's a one time only thing so, if you've been saved once and you're the one with the least votes again - sorry, it's really time for you to go.

Good changes? Well, we'll have to see.

.
.
.
.
.

Now let me introduce you to the lucky 13, starting with:

Adam Lambert

Right. This guy is...well, quite good actually. Kinda cute. Good voice. Fantastic range. Probably the ONLY interesting contestant this season. BUT. Yes there's a but there.

He's just too over-the-top.
Seriously. Drama queen much? The way he sings, the way he...moves? Very, VERY dramatic.

But ya know what? I kinda like him BECAUSE of his dramatic-ness.

I think he's everyone's favourite for now.
(He's not gonna win. I just know it.)

Alexis Grace

She's pretty. Looks a lot better in person.
I believe she's my age? And yet she has a kid! And she's married (I think)! Geez.
She rocks, really.
Awesome singer.
Needs more...whoosh factor though.
I guess, she's one of my favourites?

Allison Iraheta

Omg. Can you believe she's 16? Looks old for her age!
AI8's resident rocker chick.
She's not bad, but I don't like her.
Too much screaming. Sing girl, not scream!

Anoop Desai

Aww, he reminds me of a little puppy or something. David Archuleta-ish.
I like him. He's cute! So sweet.
(OMGWTF I'M TURNING INTO PAULA O__O)
Sings quite well too. Need better song choices though.
...don't pull another Sanjaya, please?

Danny Gokey

Ah, now this guy I really like!
He's cute enough, and his voice is like, totally awesome!
(Another step towards Paula-land T_T)
He will go far, I think.
Has that Elliot thing going on.
Danny = American Idol for the year 2009? I think it's possible!

Jazmine Murray

Wildcard choice.
Poor thing was voted off today.
Even the new Judges' Save thing couldn't save her.
Shouldn't have made it through, actually.
Why her for wildcard? Kirsten McNamara was so much better!
Lousy producers.

Jorge (pronounced 'Hor-hei', as far as I could tell) Nunez

Was voted off too, thank God.
Never understood his appeal.
And Paula loves this dude, for some really odd reason!
Okay voice, lousy stage presence.
Deserved to go.

Kris Allen

This guy just appeared out of nowhere, seriously.
Was never shown during the preliminary rounds...and suddenly WHAM he's in the Top 13.
Crazy much?
As Trix labels him, 'Pretty Boy'.
Yeah. That about sums him up. Pretty boy.
Very average.

And then we have Lil Rounds

What a funky name! Lil Rounds.
Anyway.
She's good in a Fantasia Barrino kinda way.
Great vocals and all.
But damn her ass is huge I tell ye, HUGE.
I'm just so-so about her.
She don't impress me much! =P

Matt Giraud

I will forever remember him as the dude who wrecked 'Viva La Vida'.
Seriously!
His rendition of that song just kills me. And about 90% of the audience too.
The sad thing is he's not bad at all.
Doubt he'll last for long.
And what's with the Justin Timberlake comparison?
He's nothing like JT at all!

Megan Corkrey

Oh my.
This chick is weird.
Talk about odd song choice this week.
She's not bad though, in the singing department.
Pretty enough.
Has that country thing going on I believe.
Will she hang on for long?
I seriously, SERIOUSLY doubt it. Sorry hun.

Michael Sarver

Do you know who he reminds me of?
Lynette's (from Desperate Housewives) husband.
Seriously! Can't you see the resemblance??
Michael's just a little heftier, that's all.
Used to be a fan of him until the Top 36.
Ever since then, he sorta went downhill.
Redeemed himself a bit this week, but I swear he won't be around for long either.

Scott McIntyre

He's um, visually impaired.
A lot of people think he's in because of sympathy votes.
I don't do sympathy voting, and you know what, I'd vote for him if I were in America!
He's good, actually.
Nice tone, nice guy, nice style I guess?
Oh what the heck. I like his voice and I like his style.
He seems to be a really nice guy!
(...I really sound like Paula now, don't I???? Don't lie!
Dude needs a haircut BADLY though.

~.~

So that's the American Idol Roster for 2009.
This week was Michael Jackson week, and in the grand scheme of things I guess the whole night was actually pretty good. Although not fantastic, the performances were quite solid. Even the eliminated ones weren't that bad. Just a little below average. No one stood out either, with the exception of Adam but that's only cos he's fab! *wink*

Who's Out This Week? Jazmine Murray and Jorge Nunez.

I'll be posting updates on this from now on, soooooooo stay tuned for more Idol coverage!

Watchmen

So.

Watched Watchmen today.

What can I say, the movie was pretty cool =D

Then again, I love superhero-ish movies so I might be biased. Well, everything except for Superman. Now that I can't stand.

Anyway, I've never read the comics before, but after watching the movie, I'm quite inspired to get the graphic novels! (Now how much does it cost I wonder...)

I saw some complains about the special effects used while surfing the net for reviews of the movie, but I'll have to disagree with the complainers. IMHO, the effects used were quite good; awesome explosion scene! *cough*directorofHeroespleasecheckthisout*cough*

And Dr. Manhattan looks really interesting. Seriously. Youtube it or something. Or better still, go watch the movie!

Have a look at the trailers if you have no idea of what I'm talking about.

Definitely my favourite movie of 2009 so far.

The plot is interesting and unusual, the characters are awesome and the actors portraying them did a really good job too.

It might be a little gory for um, most people (those I watched the movie with were literally squirming in their seats, no offense guys =P)

Flawed (codeword for deranged and delusional and completely psychotic...) superheroes are a lot more interesting than traditional ones.

A lot of hacking, and throwing, and smashing, and punching, and all that blood...

Not to mention the nudity and the sex. (WTF they didn't even sensor Dr. Manhattan's genitals!)

Final words for the movie - IT ROCKS AND YOU ALL SHOULD GO WATCH IT LIKE RIGHT NOW! =P

(Oh and take note, this movie is 2 hours and 45 minutes long.)

PS: Ozymandias looks so gay! But his voice is so sexy lol.

The Four Pillars of Boredom

Sorry for the lack of updates, wasn't in a mood to blog about anything at all.

.
.
.
.
.

Well at least I'm finally off my lazy butt today.

Anyway, what has happened since I turned 21?

Nothing really exciting I guess, unless if you think going back to college is exciting.

It isn't. Exciting, I mean.

So.

I'm taking four subjects this semester; Organizational Behaviour, International Marketing, Environmental Issues in Business and Communication in Business. Fancy names huh?

Frankly speaking I find all of those subjects boring. And cheesy. If you know what I mean. The cheesiest one will have to be Communication. It's just plain ridiculous, and the lecturer is just...ridiculous as well.

I'm already a little sick of it even though it's only the second week. And we have about a million presentations to prepare for in less than what, 5 weeks?

And it's not just that, there are quite a lot of individual/group assignments too.

I can't believe I'm paying RM9000+ fees for only twelve freaking weeks of lectures!

And I'll probably have to waste another RM200+ for the freaking textbooks as well.

Sigh. Life stinks.
